Family walking calmly with their dog after positive reinforcement aggression and reactivity training

You Don't Have to Live in Fear of Your Dog's Behavior

Pawsitive Purpose provides compassionate, positive reinforcement aggression training throughout Central Kentucky. I help families address growling, lunging, reactivity, resource guarding, snapping, biting, and other serious behavior concerns through individualized training, safety planning, and practical owner coaching—without judgment.

Compassionate Support. Professional Guidance.

With more than 20 years of professional experience, I help dogs and their owners understand what is driving the behavior and build safer, more manageable responses through ethical, positive reinforcement training.

Does This Sound Familiar?
  • You avoid walks because you are afraid your dog will react.

  • You cannot comfortably invite people into your home.

  • You feel constantly on edge around other dogs, visitors, or family members.

  • You worry about another bite—or what could happen if the behavior gets worse.

  • You have tried advice, videos, or previous training, but nothing has created lasting change.

  • You love your dog, but you are exhausted and unsure what to do next.

You are not a bad owner, and your dog is not a bad dog. Aggressive behavior is communication—and with the right guidance, you can begin building safer, more manageable responses.

Calm Over Chaos: Comprehensive Aggression Program

Aggressive behavior is rarely resolved through a few quick lessons. Lasting progress requires a careful evaluation, immediate safety planning, structured behavior modification, and consistent owner coaching.

This 12-week program is designed to help you better understand your dog’s behavior, reduce risk, and build safer, more manageable responses through ethical, positive reinforcement training.

What the Program Includes:

Comprehensive Two-Hour Behavior Consultation

We begin with an in-depth review of your dog’s behavior, triggers, health history, bite history, home environment, and daily routines. Together, we establish realistic goals and identify the first steps needed to improve safety.

Written Safety and Management Plan

You’ll receive practical recommendations for preventing incidents while training is underway. This may include home-management strategies, visitor protocols, walking plans, safe equipment, and positively conditioned muzzle training when appropriate.

Ten Individualized Coaching Sessions

Each one-hour session is customized to your dog’s needs and may focus on:

  • Recognizing stress and early warning signals

  • Understanding triggers and thresholds

  • Building engagement and communication

  • Teaching safer alternative behaviors

  • Reducing fear and emotional reactivity

  • Visitor or household-management plans

  • Resource-guarding protocols

  • Dog-to-dog or people-directed reactivity

  • Calm recovery after stressful situations

  • Helping you become confident handling real-life challenges

Positive Reinforcement Only

Training focuses on changing emotional responses and teaching safer behavior without fear, intimidation, or aversive tools.

Homework and Progress Tracking

You’ll receive clear exercises to practice between sessions, along with guidance for tracking incidents, progress, trigger distance, and recovery time.

Final Reassessment and Maintenance Plan

At the end of the core program, we review your dog’s progress, your handling skills, current safety needs, and the next steps required for continued improvement.

Because Every Case Is Different

Some dogs may benefit from additional training sessions, veterinary care, medication support, or collaboration with a veterinary behaviorist.

Recommendations are always based on the individual dog, the severity of the behavior, and the safety of everyone involved.

Our goal is not to promise a quick fix. Our goal is to reduce risk, improve communication, and help you create a safer, more manageable life with your dog.

Why Choose Pawsitive Purpose?

Aggression cases require more than basic obedience or generic training advice. They require careful assessment, honest guidance, and a plan built around the individual dog, the people involved, and the level of risk.

Positive Reinforcement Only

We use humane, science-based methods designed to reduce fear, build trust, and teach safer behavior without intimidation or aversive tools.

Individualized Behavior Plans

No two aggression cases are the same. Your plan is tailored to your dog’s triggers, history, environment, and specific safety needs.

Safety Comes First

Management, prevention, and clear safety protocols are built into the program from the beginning.

Owner Coaching and Support

You will learn how to read your dog’s body language, prevent escalation, and respond more confidently in real-life situations.

Honest, Realistic Guidance

We do not promise quick fixes. We provide clear expectations, measurable goals, and recommendations based on your dog’s progress and welfare.

More Than 20 Years of Professional Experience

You will receive experienced, compassionate support from a trainer who understands the complexity of aggression and behavior modification.

Common Questions About Our Aggression Training

1. What types of behavior does this program address?

The program may help with dog-to-dog aggression, aggression toward people, resource guarding, territorial behavior, handling sensitivity, reactivity, and dogs with a bite or near-bite history. Each case is evaluated individually to determine whether the program is appropriate.

2. Does my dog need to have bitten someone to qualify?

No. You do not need to wait for a bite to seek help. Growling, lunging, snapping, guarding, freezing, or escalating reactivity are all valid reasons to apply.

3. What is included in the program?

The core program includes a comprehensive two-hour behavior consultation, a written safety and management plan, ten individualized coaching sessions, homework and progress tracking, and a final reassessment with long-term recommendations.

4. How long does the program last?

The core program is designed to take approximately 12 weeks. The exact schedule may vary depending on your dog’s needs, progress, safety considerations, and the amount of practice needed between sessions.

5. Can aggression be completely cured?

No ethical trainer can guarantee that aggression will disappear completely. Our goals are to reduce risk, improve communication, change emotional responses where possible, teach safer behaviors, and help you manage real-life situations more confidently.

6. Will you use punishment, shock collars, or prong collars?

No. Training is based on positive reinforcement, careful management, desensitization, counterconditioning, and teaching safer alternative behaviors. We do not use fear, pain, force, or intimidation.

7. Will my dog need to wear a muzzle?

A positively conditioned basket muzzle may be recommended when it improves safety. Muzzle training is introduced gradually and should help the dog feel comfortable—not frightened or punished.

8. Will my veterinarian need to be involved?

Veterinary evaluation may be recommended when pain, illness, anxiety, or other medical factors could be contributing to the behavior. Some dogs may also benefit from medication support coordinated through a veterinarian or veterinary behaviorist.

9. What if my dog needs more than the core program?

Some cases require additional sessions or longer-term support. At the final reassessment, we will discuss whether your dog is ready for maintenance or would benefit from a four- or eight-session extension.
